Blossom Scenic Drive / 3D Approach to Planning:
The Apple Blossom Scenic Drive research project allowed the Center for
Rural Design to successfully create three-dimensional animations of
housing design layouts using primarily geographic information systems
(GIS) practices. This data and software allowed the transformation
of two-dimensional layouts and drawings into animated videos that
displayed each design within a digitally created environment. This
allowed users to view each design within a visual context before making
and potentially implementing major land use decisions.
