Travel and Accomodation Information

Travel

Please plan to arrive Thursday, January 14th. Upon arrival at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, you have several options for getting to the symposium hotel. In decreasing order of cost and convenience:

Taxi: easy to find at the airport, just follow the signs for ground transportation (approx. $25 + tip)
Super shuttle: a shared van. Will take a little longer because of stops for other passengers, but a little cheaper ($16 + tip).
Public transportation: take the Hiawatha Light Rail line (which is right at the airport) and get off at the Metrodome stop. From there call the hotel (612-379-8888), and their shuttle will pick you up for free. The hotel is about two miles away. ($1.75 or $2.25 for the train fare depending upon time of day. Pay at the fare box before boarding).

Accommodations

We have reserved a block of discounted rooms at a convenient hotel. You are of course free to stay elsewhere, but this will be the only hotel where we will provide transportation to and from the building where the symposium will be held. Discounted rooms are limited, so please reserve early (the special rate expires January 4th) by following the directions below:

Meals

Breakfast and lunch will be provided at the symposium on both days (15th and 16th). In addition, there will be a free dinner hosted by the Center for Rural Design on the 15th.
